At the 1st International Whitefly Symposium held on 20-24 May 2013 Kolympari Chania, Mrs. Christina Papaioannou, responsible for quality management and plant protection at AGRITEX ENERGY S.A.  presented a poster entitled «Total Greenhouse Management ®, six-year implementation in 10 ha glasshouse area in North Greece: the case of Trialeurodes vaporariorum» . The presentation covered the overall management of whitefly which runs from 2008 to the Agritex Energy S.A. and the poster was developed in cooperation with the consultant of the company Mr. Chris Katsanos (DKG group).

The topics of the symposium included: systematic and evolution, biology and ecology, genomics and genetics, biological control and integrated management, chemical treatment and resistance, transmission of viruses via whitefly, whitefly and interaction of plants and symbiotic whitefly.

The Symposium was attended by researchers and professionals in the agricultural industry, business executives from the Greek and international pest control sector and members of local government.

The 1st International Symposium for whitefly is part of a series of specialized scientific conferences for whitefly, which resulted from the merger of two major international conferences, the International Bemisia Workshop (IBWS) and the European Whitefly Symposium (EWS) and replaced  the 6th International Bemisia Workshop that was originally scheduled to be held in Crete.
